Project Description

For this commission we created a series of atmospheric images that unveil House BRAS, a single-family residence by DDM Architectuur embedded in a woodland clearing on the outskirts of Antwerp. The brief was to convey how the home dissolves into its setting—bordering a tranquil pond and enveloped by mature trees—while retaining a strong, sculptural presence.

The architecture pivots around a sinuous, meandering ground plan that floods every room with daylight and grants uninterrupted garden views. Monolithic façades and roofs clad in irregular natural-stone slabs evoke a rock nestled in the forest, while floor-to-ceiling, column-free openings and glazed corridors stitch together the primary zones of living, rest and wellness—including a pool wing that hovers between interior comfort and the misty landscape beyond.

Our visual strategy centred on contrast: dense stone against diaphanous glass, low dawn light against deep-green foliage, intimate interiors against expansive reflections of sky and water. Each of the eight images was composed to narrate a different rhythm of the house—from the quiet tension of sunrise along the larch-veneered passageways to the reflective calm of the pool at dusk—revealing a dwelling where architecture, landscape and light become a single, meditative experience.
